General Assembly March 2011
The IAKS Switzerland held its 2011 General Assembly at the Swiss Paraplegic Centre in Nottwil, which is a member of the IAKS Swiss Section.
The President of the IAKS Swiss Section Dr. Stefan Kannewischer welcomed a good 20 members. His annual report was again positive. In 2010, the Swiss Section held three successful events on the subjects of artificial turf, ice stadia and sports halls. At the same time, preparations were underway for SwissInfraSport in 2011, which is taking place from 21.-24.06.2011 at SuissePublic in Bern.
This lively development of the Swiss Section has resulted in a gratifying increase in membership to the current figure of 83 and a good financial situation.
Following lunch, there was a tour of the Swiss Paraplegic Centre under the guidance of Christian Meier. The Swiss Paraplegic Centre is an internationally recognised clinic and competence centre in all aspects of paraplegia. It consists of a hospital, rehabilitation facilities of all kind, residential buildings, a hotel with a seminar wing, out-patient facilities and large-scale sports facilities comprising an indoor pool, gym, athletics facility and other sports offerings. The facilities are to be used increasingly by the public.
Along with interesting aspects of disabled sport, those attending were also very impressed by the centre’s professionalism and by the insights into the various issues of paraplegia.
