It also contributes its own expertise as the co-organizers of conferences and congresses of other organizations.
The German Section of the IAKS is involved in national and European standardization in the sports facility sector. Through the IAKS office, it is currently represented on the CEN committees for spectator facilities and sports surfaces. The section also supports the development and propagation of quality standards for the design and construction of sports facilities.

In existence since 1973, the German Section is the oldest national organization within the IAKS. The range of members in Germany extends from the majority of Land governments, sports councils and sports federations on the national and Land levels to scientific institutions, municipalities/sports departments, designers, and companies serving the sports and leisure sector.With its own events such as its panels of experts and workshops, the Section offers German members opportunities for further training and discussion of the latest trends in sports facility development.
