The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has recognized the IAKS as the only international organization in the field of sports facility development.
The IAKS also cooperates with:

• the International Paralympic Committee (IPC),
• the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS),
• the International Sports Federations (Sportaccord),
• the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE),
• the Sport and Leisure Programme of the International Union of Architects (UIA)
• The Association for International Sport for All (TAFISA).

The IAKS is also included in the United Nations’ list of NGOs with consultative status at the UN Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC).
