Work groups

The work groups of the IAKS bring together international experts from the world of sports facility development. They discuss scientific and technical developments and produce working aids for the field ( publications ).
 
The following work groups currently exist:
 

• Artificial Ice Rink Advisory Circle
• Tennis Facilities Work Group
• Companies Committee
• Winter Sports Facilities Work Group

The Artificial Ice Rink Advisory Circle closely follows the scientific and technical trends and innovations in the field of artificial ice rinks. It prepares the subject-matter for the Management Conferences on Artificial Ice Rinks and the Ice Maker Training Seminars. The IAKS updates these events each year and offers them to operators and staff of artificial ice rinks.
 
The experts of the Tennis Facilities Work Group have produced the Tennis Facilities Manual, which the IAKS publishes together with the German Tennis Federation (DTB). The manual contains detailed instructions on the design, modernization, construction, maintenance and operation of outdoor and indoor tennis facilities. The second, fully revised and updated edition appeared in 2002.
 
On the Companies Committee of the IAKS, representatives of all sectors of the sports facility industry meet. The primary goal is to develop and improve quality standards for the construction of sports facilities. It recently published the brochure Sports Needs Sports Facilities.
 
The Winter Sports Facilities Work Group has produced two ring binders on sports facilities for winter sports and ice skating. These describe in detail the planning requirements, the basics for the design and construction of such sports facilities as well as their operation and maintenance.
